It's been just 8 months since millions of people tuned in from all over the world to watch Meghan Markle marry Prince Harry in that jaw-dropping gorgeous ceremony, but we'll continue to see it's aftermath well into 2019 if not longer. Wedding professionals call this the “Meghan effect” and it's easy to see why! Our own wedding ceremony and reception planners are also dialed into current wedding fashions and themes so we have several ideas about what's trending in 2019! We asked around and many agree that the underlying theme of 2019 weddings is “everything old is new again “ which means there has been a return to the classic looks and traditions but with a fresh and sometimes surprising twist. From bold colors to statement wedding cakes and everything in between, there are so many ways to adapt this year's hottest wedding trends into your own celebration. Here are just a few. 2019 Wedding Trend #1- Unexpected Colors Many newly engaged brides are moving away from the traditional soft pastel colors we're used to seeing and are embracing bold new color combinations. Plenty of couples are now incorporating fresh new palettes that are daring and fun in their color choices for flowers, decor, wedding party attire, invitations and more. On trend right now: Bright color schemes inspired by 2019's Pantone Color of the Year, 'Living Coral' and/or dark and mysterious hues in a moody palette like dark blues, rich purples, deep greens, and saturated reds. 2019 Wedding Trend #2- Classic Wedding Dress Designs Classic looks never really go out of style, but the moment the world saw Meghan Markle in that unforgettable long-sleeved, bateau-necked ceremony gown and later on in her simple halter neck reception dress, a fashion icon was born. 2019 brides are moving from strapless gowns and embellishment towards simple clean lines and glamorous “statement sleeves”. Another “everything old is new again” fashion trend we're seeing is a return to simple make-up techniques and natural beauty with an emphasis on glowing skin and unfussy hair updos. Wedding Trend #3- Big & Bold Wedding Cakes Wedding Cakes are having a moment in 2019. Couples are moving away from popular dessert displays and are splurging instead on one attention-worthy wedding cake that makes a statement. Bakers are busy creating designs that are big, regal, colorful and eye-catching with unexpected details and personalized touches. Let your imagination go wild. Wedding Trend #4: Sustainable Flowers & Decor More couples are opting for sustainable choices in 2019 than ever before and we don't see this trend going anywhere. To reduce their carbon footprint, many are opting for an all-inclusive wedding venue like ours so guests are not driving to multiple locations. We are also seeing a surge in brides choosing fresh, locally grown wedding flowers for a natural, whimsical and romantic look. Fortunately for us, there is a multitude of local flower growers here in Oregon who provide beautiful and fresh blooms throughout the year. Eco-conscious couples are also looking for catering services that support local growers and farmers, which is why our catering team appeals to them. Trend #5- Ceremonies with a Twist There has been very little change in wedding ceremony trends, until now. For instance, we're seeing more wedding parties with mixed genders on both sides of the aisle i.e. 'bridesmen' & 'groomswomen' are now a thing. We're also hearing more about couples opting to try different ceremony seating arrangements, i.e. “ceremonies in the round”, so guests can have a more personalized experience as the couple exchanges vows. Self-written wedding vows have been adopted by many couples through the years and will continue to be a big trend in 2019. Trend #6- Vintage Décor & Banquet Style Receptions While we're seeing more wedding ceremonies incorporate new elements, there has been a return to the classic reception set-up. More couples are bringing back traditional design elements and requesting a banquet-style arrangement with long tables and low florals so everyone can be seen. Not only does everyone feel more connected,it also makes for great photography. Wedding style experts recommend looking towards beautiful, timeless elements you'd find at a dinner party for inspiration like white table clothes with lace overlays, beautiful stemware, silver candlesticks, monogrammed napkins, etc. Other trends we expect to see more of in 2019? Over-the-top invitations, balloon walls, larger-than-life floral installations, biodegradable confetti, velvet accents, gin cocktails and much more.
