The end of another year is here, and this is the time we reflect on ourselves to see what we can do better in the new year. For some, it is making healthier lifestyle choices, or to spend more time with loved ones, or simply trying a new hobby. The Salem Convention Center also wants to better ourselves in 2012 and we want to share our 2012 New Year's Resolutions with you. We will keep you posted on our progress and we hope you will let us know how we can better serve our community. 1. In 2012, we resolve to step up our Green & Sustainable efforts even more by: Installing low flow faucets throughout the Salem Convention Center; Find more ways to further reduce our waste; Continue to encourage and reward our employees for new “green” ideas. 2. In 2012 we will add another excellent year in safety to our track record and continue our “back to basics” safety program. 3. In 2012, we resolve to bring the arts to the Salem Convention Center by: Continuing our partnership with Oregon Artist Series Foundation; Moving the 'Swirly Whirly' sculpture from Marion County Courthouse Square to the Salem Convention Center Sculpture Garden; Utilizing the new Sculpture Garden as an event space, giving more space options for rent. 4. In 2012, we will integrate our “Salem Block” brand so our local, social media and other clients knows it refers to the Salem Convention Center, Grand Hotel Salem & Bentley's Grill by: Launching a new Salem Block Mobile App; Engaging our local community to maximize the benefits of our interactive kiosk at The Salem Convention Center; Making sure Siri from the new iPhone knows that Salem Block has the best hotel, the best restaurant and the very best meeting facility in Salem, Oregon! 5. In 2012 we will promote our local community by Working in conjunction with Travel Salem to bring the Governor's Conference on Tourism back to Salem in 2013; Promoting Salem as a premier wine country destination; To continually educate all of our employees on the great things there are to do in Salem, Oregon. So from our family to yours: Here's to the bright New Year And a fond farewell to the old; Here's to the things that are yet to come And to the memories that we hold. Happy New Year and thank you for making 2011 so great!
