Lucinda Parker's “Sojourn” from the Hallie Ford Museum of Art Collection On the heels of the successful conclusion of our year long exhibit, the 4th Annual Oregon Artists Series, The Salem Convention Center invites the public to browse our lobby and and enjoy the latest exhibit on display. Hallie Ford Museum of Art has loaned eight paintings from their vast collection- including pieces that not been displayed publicly- to the Oregon Artists Series Foundation on exhibit here at the conference center. Hallie Ford Museum of Art has a collection of over 6,000 culturally and historically diverse objects from ancient times to modern day located on the campus of Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. The artists and paintings featured in the new exhibit were announced this week on the Statesman Journal and are as followed: • Margaret Coe, “City Streets #2”; a graduate of the University of Oregon bachelor's and master's art programs, she has been showing work for 40 years. • Jay Backstrand, “Examination Part 1” and “Examination Part 2”; This Salem native taught at Pacific Northwest College of Art from 1975 to 1986. • Carl Morris, “Untitled” from the Chapel Series; This modernist painter is considered an important figure in mid-century Pacific Northwest art. • Tom Fawkes, “Brazilian Botanicals at Berkeley”; Fawkes taught at the Universities of Wisconsin and Oregon; he was a recipient of grants from the Rockefeller Foundation and National Endowment for the Arts. • Paul Missal, “The Hallway”; Best known as a landscape painter, though this painting involves abstract patterns; longtime teacher at Pacific Northwest College of Art. • Lucinda Parker, “Sojourn”; Born in Boston, she studied at Reed College, the Museum Art School and Pratt Institute. She's known for her aggressive use of scraped and brushed paint. • Constance Fowler, “Untitled” landscape; Known for her landscapes and seascapes, she taught at Willamette University and was associated with the University of Oregon.
