For more than two decades, the Salem Convention Center has served as a gathering place where people come together to learn, celebrate, collaborate, and connect. It has become a cornerstone of downtown Salem and a catalyst for economic vitality, community engagement, and local pride. Every event hosted at the Convention Center creates a ripple effect throughout our community. The Salem Convention Center hosts an average of 400 events annually, attracting approximately 100,000 visitors to downtown Salem and generating economic activity that supports local businesses, restaurants, retailers, and hospitality partners. Since opening in 2005, the facility has welcomed more than one million attendees and has played a significant role in the ongoing revitalization of downtown Salem. But our impact extends far beyond economics. The Convention Center was built to bring people together. We welcome state & national associations, educational organizations, corporate groups, government agencies, local businesses, and nonprofit organizations that are working to make Oregon stronger. Visitors attending events bring life to sidewalks, restaurants, shops, and public spaces, helping downtown remain a destination for both residents and travelers. City planning efforts continue to emphasize the importance of a thriving downtown as a driver of economic growth, tourism, and community connection. A conference attendee checking into a hotel room may enjoy breakfast at a local café, browse a downtown boutique, visit a nearby winery, or explore Salem's historic attractions. A wedding guest may spend an entire weekend discovering Enchanted Forest, our historic carousel, Riverfront park or Gilbert House Children's Museum with their family. A nonprofit fundraiser may bring hundreds of supporters together over lunch or a festive auction & dinner to champion a cause that directly impacts our neighbors. These moments matter. In an increasingly digital world, there is still tremendous value in bringing people together face-to-face. Great ideas are shared across conference tables. Lifelong memories are created on dance floors. Partnerships are formed over coffee breaks. Community support is demonstrated through fundraising events and celebrations. These connections strengthen Salem. The Salem Convention Center was envisioned as more than a building. It was designed to be a beacon for downtown—a place where visitors discover Salem, businesses benefit from increased activity, nonprofits find support, and residents come together to celebrate the moments that matter. As we look toward the future, we remain proud of the role we play in helping downtown Salem flourish. Every event, every visitor, and every gathering contributes to a stronger, more vibrant community. Because when people come together, great things happen. And that's what the Salem Convention Center is all about.
