TEDxSalem is proud to present the class of TEDxSalem V January 6, 2018. The class of TEDxSalem V wants you to join them here at The Salem Convention Center on January 6th, 2018 for “Through the Looking Glass”. Nine new speakers have been lined up for the event in addition to a few surprises you will be hearing about soon. “Everyone is going to step through the looking glass and experience something new,” said co-curator Carlee Wright about this year's line up. TEDx is an independently organized event that brings people together to share a TED-like experience in their community. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The organizers of TEDxSalem believe that the people of Oregon also have brilliant ideas and deserve a platform to share their knowledge with our community. That's why TEDxSalem launched five years ago and will convene again at The Salem Convention Center in early 2018. TEDxSalem is one of many locally organized TEDx events around the country. In these TED-style events, live speakers present their ideas and spark deep discussions in a more intimate setting. The x stands for independently organized. Many of these speaking engagements are later featured in the TEDTalks video for millions of other knowledge seekers to enjoy. 'The TED experience represents the best of what we have to offer,' says Salem Convention Center General Manager Chrissie Bertsch. 'In an age where our ideas are so polarized, it's refreshing to be a part of an event that encourages unselfish thinking and listening. These truly are ideas worth spreading.' Topics of discussion for TEDxSalem 2018 will range in everything from the benefits of the arts, women's health, urban sanctuaries, magic, identify theft, ways to treat PTSD and philosophy.
