There is a very special event very near and dear to our hearts is happening here on May 2nd, 2018. Friends of Pimpollo (pronounced pim-poy-o), a non-profit volunteer organization that develops education-based programs in Southern Mexico, will host their 10th Annual Cinco de Mayo Luncheon here at the Salem Convention Center. The event will start promptly at 12 p.m. and will end by 1 p.m. The theme of this celebration is “Tapestry of Stories” and will feature amazing stories from children of Oaxaca & Chiapas, Mexico in addition to traditional Oaxacan cuisine, live music and special guest speakers who will provide more information about the life-changing programs and services provided by Friends of Pimpollo such as: Pimpollo Home for Children in Juchitan, Oaxaca Vicente Guerrero Community outside of Oaxaca City, Oaxaca Oaxaca Kids Can in Vicente Guerrero, Oaxaca Education Scholarship Program in Chiapas and Oaxaca, Mexico There is no charge to attend but donations will be gladly accepted to help the group continue the amazing work they do to transform the lives of deserving children and individuals in this impoverished region.
