Lucky for us, we just happen to be located right in the heart of its vibrant downtown! Just take a walk around The Salem Convention Center and you will find delightful surprises and local gems around every corner. Interested in arts and culture? Music venues, historic buildings, theatre companies, movie theaters and art galleries are just around the corner. Artisan bakery and deli? Got it. Want to unwind with an Oregon micro brew or discover a new local wine? No problem. Visitors to The Salem Convention Center frequently tell us how much they love to stroll the city blocks and take in the many sights. Here's a round-up of a few of our favorite local destinations- all within blocks of our facility. Perfect spot for Lunch, Dinner or Happy Hour? Look no further than our own Bentley's Grill! Where to watch a game? Magoo's Sports Bar across the street has you covered! Need some help planning your travel itinerary? Travel Salem and its treasure trove of travel resources are just a few blocks away. Where can one walk for great local entertainment? There are almost too many places to list! We recommend checking out the comedy scene at Capitol City Theatre just across the street. Reed Opera House, Salem's Historic Grand Theater and The Elsinore Theatre are also worth a look (and super close!) Want to do a little shopping while you're here? Walk a couple of blocks and you'll find a wide range of fabulous boutiques and shops like One Fair World, Ma Valise, Olive Boutique, The French Unicorn, Olivia's, just to name a few, but you can view all of our retail shops here. Dying for some great Sushi but don't feel like driving? Stroll down to Tiga Sushi Bar and Asian Bistro. As if that's not enough to keep you occupied, these points of interest, all of which are less than 1 mile away from The Salem Convention Center, are worth the hike (or at least a quick Uber ride)! Mission Mill Museum 1313 Mill St. SE Salem, Oregon 97301 Phone: (503) 585-7012 This 4.5-acre park includes a Visitors Center, Mission Mill Museum, Thomas Kay Woolen Mill, Jason Lee House and Parsonage, John D. Boone House, Pioneer Presbyterian Church and Marion Museum. Mission Mill Museum is regionally known as premier Salem, Oregon historical attraction. Picnic with the ducks near the mill stream, or browse through art and craft shops. Oregon State Capitol 900 Court St. NE Salem, Oregon 97301 Phone: (503) 986-1388 The capitol building, built in 1938, is made of Vermont marble in modern Greek style. At the top stands the 'The Golden Oregon Pioneer,' a statue with gold overleaf by the Children of Oregon, stands 24 feet high on the dome. The interior houses extensive historic murals, an Oregon gift shop and an exhibit area. Salem's Riverfront Park This 23-acre park located along the Willamette River is a quick walk from The Salem Convention Center and the perfect spot to stretch your legs and get some fresh air! While you're there, check out the Willamette Queen, Riverfront Carousel and the newly opened Minto Island Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge! Downtown is the place to find events, entertainment, premier shops, specialty boutiques, restaurants, coffee bars, and wine! Whatever you're looking for, whether it's an art gallery, a theatre, unique restaurants, salons, shopping, entertainment, antiques or historic buildings- you can find them just steps away from The Salem Convention Center.
