Chefs for Liberty House Sunday, June 8, 2014 5:00 pm The Putnam University Center at Willamette University 900 State St. Salem, Oregon Liberty House, a child abuse assessment center serving Marion & Polk Counties, has provided a safe and special environment for children since 1999. The organization is hosting Chefs for Liberty House next month to raise funds and awareness so the center can continue to provide their outstanding work for our community, and we are honored to be a part of it. Chef Tory Knaus, the Executive Chef of Salem Convention Center, will join other local award-winning Chefs to prepare a delicious, four-course meal paired with wines from local vineyards and topped off with exciting live and silent auctions, with a focus on food, wine, travel and art from our area's premiere businesses. We hope you will attend this very special evening. Not only will you help raise funds for a very important cause, you can sample of some Chef Tory's tasty hors d'oeuvres like: Antipasto skewer of fresh mozzarella, basil, grape tomato & Nicoise olive, Harissa & herb marinated grilled white tiger prawn with cilantro cream, Herbed crostini with wild mushroom & local goat cheese Seared beef tenderloin, shallot confit, smoked blue cheese on baguette round Other Chefs providing their talents include: Chef Massimo Brofferio from The Drunken Cook, Chef Daryl Gossack from Loustic Catering, Chef Joshua Green from Bon Appetit Management Company, and Chef Marcia Hara from Gayles Italian Market. Tickets are $100 per person or $800 per table of 8. Proceeds support Liberty House services to help children who may have been abused. Services available include a head-to-toe check-up and a carefully designed interview in an environment designed especially for kids. Liberty House also provides information and support for non-offending caregivers. Liberty House serves children from birth to age 18. Our services are voluntary and free of cost to the family. All services are carefully coordinated with local law enforcement and child welfare agencies in order to provide the highest levels of support for children and families. A community Board of Directors oversees Liberty House, which is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. About Chef Tory Knaus, Executive Chef of Salem Convention Center Chef Tory brings with him a wide range of expertise in the Culinary Arts as well as 14 years experience in restaurants, hotels & resorts throughout the west coast. He brings his love of Northwest Cuisine and local sustainable products to his menu at SCC. Knaus relocated to Seattle in the Pacific Northwest after finishing his culinary training at Scottsdale Culinary Institute in 1996 and culinary treks in Mexico and Europe. His prior culinary experience includes various positions with Dahlia Lounge, Hilton Hotels, Mayflower Park Hotel & Oba as well as Executive Chef for Cactus Restaurant & Coastal Kitchen, both of Seattle.
