March welcomed a powerful mix of professional, educational, and culinary energy. MPI Cascadia 2025 brought a meeting of professionals from around the Pacific Northwest to Salem, highlighting our city as a destination for future events. At the same time, the Oregon Hospitality Foundation’s ProStart Championships saw high school students display impressive skills in culinary and restaurant management competitions, earning spots at the national invitational. We also hosted the Oregon Professional Educator Fair, the largest in the Northwest, connecting passionate educators with schools across the region and helping shape the future of our classrooms. The Oregon Thespians filled our space with student performances and workshops, celebrating the transformative power of theatre education. Later that month, we welcomed one of Salem’s favorite traditions—Chefs’ Night Out. Organized by Marion Polk Food Share, the event was a feast of local flavors, live music, and community spirit, all supporting the important mission to end hunger in our region.Pictured the Dungeness Crab Profiterole served by SCC at Chef’s Night Out May gave us a chance to honor the educators who go above and beyond every day. The Crystal Apple Awards, presented by the McLaran Leadership Foundation and the Salem-Area Chamber of Commerce, recognized over 100 local educators for their dedication and impact on students’ lives. It was an inspiring evening filled with pride and appreciation.June brought strength and community spirit to the forefront with the NPC Oregon Open. This dynamic bodybuilding competition featured both open and natural divisions and honored first responders with a special “HERO” class. It was a powerful display of discipline, athleticism, and gratitude for those who serve. In July, all eyes turned to the water, roads, and trails for IRONMAN 70.3 Oregon. Known for its fast course, the event drew athletes from across the country to swim the Willamette, bike through wine country, and run along Salem’s scenic paths. The race brought not only adrenaline and competition but also visitors and excitement that energized our city.We wrapped up the summer in August with a celebration of local excellence. The Best of the Mid-Valley Community’s Choice Awards brought residents together to recognize the top businesses, organizations, and individuals in more than 150 categories. Entirely driven by public nominations and votes, the event was a true reflection of community pride and the spirit of Salem. As we reflect on this vibrant season, we’re reminded of why we do what we do. At the Salem Convention Center, we’re not just hosting events, we’re helping create experiences that inform, inspire, and unite. We can’t wait to see what’s next.
