The Salem Convention Center is always proud to serve organizations that give so much to our community such as the YWCA Salem. On Sunday, September 30, we will welcome an estimated 1,000 participants from all walks of life: Corporate teams, families, survivors, health conscious individuals, local businesses, health providers, clinics, etc for the 8th Annual Discover Pink Walk. The annual Discover Pink Walk raises funds for early detection exams for low income and underinsured women. The walk creates community awareness of the importance of early detection, the high rates of breast cancer occurrences in Marion and Polk Counties and the vital service that YWCA Salem provides to the residents of these two counties. It also helps support the YWCA Salem's breast cancer support groups along with their extensive library and resources. In 2011, the YWCA Salem Women's Health Program provided the following services to women living in Marion and Polk counties: 388 Mammograms 291 Clinical Breast Exams Over 900,000 Educational contacts In addition to the walk, the event will feature a Health and Vendor Fair, Music, Food, Raffle Drawings, Team Photos and more!
